Introduction

The Geography Explorer Competition is an annual, online national competition for primary and secondary school students across Malaysia. It provides an engaging platform for participants to explore and deepen their understanding of the world through challenges and learning activities and achieve the following objectives:

Our objectives

  • To inspire curiosity and deepen students’ understanding of the Earth’s physical features and human geography.

  • To enhance their geographical knowledge and develop a greater appreciation for how natural landscapes and human activities shape our planet.

  • To develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the analysis of geographical patterns, issues, and real-world scenarios.

The Geography Explorer Competition programme in Malaysia comprises four stages:

    Malaysian Geography Olympiad (MyGeo)

    • The top 10% from the secondary category (16–19 years old)
    • Paper-based exam (offline)

Each participant will receive a certificate of participation. Awards will be given to the top scorers, according to the percentiles as shown below. The awards are symbolic, not an actual medal.
